Our trip to Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor was an intoxicating event. As we drove into the parking area, we saw families and kids in a queue waiting on their treats.
We stepped through the doors of Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor and were catapulted back to the 1950’s of Soda Shoppes, Sweets and Treats, and Jukeboxes.
This time travel jolt was exactly what its founder Monroe Udell had foreseen back in 1946. Time stands still at Jaxson’s.
As we were seated by a cute waitress in a chic uniform so reminiscent of the era, we were able to get a clear view of the overhead décor: A bicycle with its huge front wheels; an ancient cradle; horse and buggy; and roaring twenties’ photos. While we waited for our
treats, we enjoyed the music and the company; we could heard the pop, pop, pop and the siren of the popcorn machine as it was ready to be served.
When our desserts were finally served, it was a feast for royalty! Some of us had vanilla sundaes, chocolate ice cream sodas, strawberry ice cream sodas, and pistachio or butter pecan ice cream.
Complete silence was now upon us all as we meandered through the Ambrosia. There was not much that could have been said. We enjoyed it to the last drop.
Finally our Sweet Party came to an end. We were ready to head home to our beautiful Miami assisted living facility, Bay Oaks on the Bay, with cherished memories of
Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor’s “Cornucopia of Ambrosia.” We were all contented and happy to be part of this sweet Floridian lifestyle.
Our thanks to our Administrator, Ms. Kathryn R. Kassner for this delicious suggestion of dessert at Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor, also to our staff members, Dr. Julie Weaver and Carmelo Cruz, for helping to make this an enjoyable day.
As always, it is a pleasure and a privilege being in the company of our Bay Oaks
Love to all…….and SWEET DREAMS!!
