¡Viva Cinco de Mayo! Today, we are celebrating with Mexican music, grilled steak burritos, our own guacamole & refried beans, cerveza Corona light and ice cream!
Bay Oaks residents love Mexican food – something that was new for a few. “What’s a burrito?,” asked Ms. Lellow, before sinking her teeth in what became only her first serving of the Mexican-style culinary treat. Another resident asked if pico de gallo was a salad one ate with a spoon before her neighbor demonstrated the dipping of our assorted tortilla chips into our homemade salsa and guacamole.
Many Bay Oaks residents enjoy a glass of wine with lunch so on Cinco de Mayo, we invited them to instead try Corona Light beer, served straight out of the bottle with a fresh wedge of lime. It was a big hit, particulary with 103 years old, Ms. Jensen.
Studies show that seniors benefit from regular, moderate consumption of beer and wine.
